One of the guarantees in this life is, that trouble will come our way. Sometimes it's small obstacles, sometimes it's hurricanes and then luckily - for parts in-between - we will have clear skies and sunshine in our hearts. How can we create sunshine in storms?
One of the guarantees in this life is, that trouble will come our way. Sometimes it's small obstacles, sometimes it's hurricanes and then luckily - for parts in-between - we will have clear skies and sunshine in our hearts. If you never feel like there is sunshine in your heart, please reach out to me or someone you trust.
Because we live in a fallen world, the storms are sadly more than the clear skies. What practical plans/rituals/ideas can we put into place to create "clear-sky-feelings" during our stormy seasons?
Keep this list close during your stormy seasons & add more ideas:
List 3 things you are grateful for every day.
Ensure you make time to spend with God.
Make a list of things you like/recharges you. Add the time each activity will take and ensure you have all the resources available. Whenever you see an opening in your schedule, pick an activity from the list and do it.
Selfcare: A great little pick-me-up is applying a bit of selfcare to feel "fresher" and better about yourself. It can include:
scheduling appointments at the hair or beauty salon, for a facial, new haircut, hairstyle, gel nails etc.
schedule time to do some home treatments,
visit you local gym, do a quick exercise routine to get the blood flowing, then visit the steam room with a face mask applied. Your skin will feel fresh and pampered and your happy hormones will be triggered by die exercise.
Go for a walk outside or just sit quietly (without your phone) and drink coffee/tea outside. But get some Vitamin D!
Visit a "happy place." Maybe a park or a coffee shop etc. and journal. There are different ways of journaling. Try the different ways until you find your perfect journaling match.
Do something out of the ordinary. For example, book a go-cart session. It will get the adrenaline pumping and get you to just laugh. And you know what they say, "Laughing is the best medicine."
These little acts of kindness towards yourself will help you to tackle your storm with renewed strength.
Remember, God didn't place us on Earth to be alone. Talk to people you trust, reach out to others and ask for help. During the times you have "clear skies" reach out to someone amidst a storm, because the next time your challenging season starts there will be people around to help and support you.
Most important - pray it out, cry it out at God's feet and feel the relief and "weightlessness" that will come over you.
Take care of yourself. You are loved and worthy, because God loves you.
Stay blessed.
